(Virtual) AMA+ Leadership Series: Growth Mindset for Leaders
Growth Mindset for Leaders
For every leader that has wondered why they are not where they want to be in their career — yet — many of the answers lie within the growth mindset. The growth mindset is a powerful tool for leaders poised to do great things. This mindset empowers them to create their own plan for growth, rather than waiting for someone else to create it for them. Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck discovered the growth mindset, which is a belief that “your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts, your strategies and help from others.”
This workshop is for anyone who wants to get unstuck as a leader. They will leave with tools to assess their own spots ripe for leadership growth, a trove of ideas, and a growth mindset leadership plan. The workshop will also include reflections on how the growth mindset can activate personal growth and growth in others.
Lisa Rossi is the co-founder of Bonfire Strategy, which offers workshops, training and facilitation for companies looking to achieve breakthrough ideas. Rossi led innovation efforts across Gannett and Patch when it was a subsidiary of AOL, and directed a publication on journalism innovation called American Journalism Review, based at the University of Maryland. In 2017-18, she was accepted to Stanford University for a journalism and innovation fellowship, where she developed models for using comedy and design thinking to train individuals and teams to use an innovation process. Rossi has brought the Bonfire model of innovation to the Edward Kennedy Institute, Continental Western Group, Drake University, the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and others since its launch to guide both individual and team innovation projects. She was recently accepted to train with The Groundlings, a comedy theatre in L.A. that has trained comedy stars including Lisa Kudrow and Jimmy Fallon. In her spare time, Rossi performs stand-up comedy at Teehee’s in Des Moines and is working on a book about how to think like a comedian as a path to innovation.
