He spent two years in Washington, D.C., on former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach’s staff and then moved to Des Moines to take a position on the Iowa Senate Republican Caucus staff,where he served eight years, the final four as staff director. In 2010, he became director of federal relations at Iowa. He was named to his current role as VP for External Relations & Sr. Advisor to the president at the University of Iowa in in 2014.
