Event Description:

Calling all AMA Iowa members! AMA Iowa is launching its very first, “Lunch With Leaders” event this April. The event is $20 and is open to AMA Iowa members only. Interested in becoming a member? Presentation Description
Try something new! AMA Iowa is launching its very first, “Lunch With Leaders” event this April. Meet the stellar leaders of our community and connect with other AMA members. Build deeper connections, grow new ones, and enjoy getting out of the office over lunch.

This is a first come, first serve event as there are limited seating available. Each leader will be assigned to a table and attendees will fill the remaining seats. There will not be a formal presentation. Attendees will relax, enjoy lunch, and see where the conversation takes them.

Who Will Be There?

Leader Biographies

Michael Bird is CEO of Spindustry, a modern business agency, focused on generating leads, connections and sales. Michael is a strategist and leads clients to solutions that will achieve their goals through a combination of marketing and digital solutions. Spindustry creates digital strategies, content marketing, large scale e-commerce, and SharePoint solutions for its clients. Michael graduated from the University of Colorado and has been recognized as a leader in the IT and Marketing fields. Michael is married to his wife Lora of over 20 years and has two children, Aidan and Alyssa. Michael also “might” like Star Wars.

Terry Rich is the President and CEO of the Iowa Lottery and author of the book “Dare to Dream, Dare to Act”. Prior to that, he was CEO of the Blank Park Zoo; President and CEO of Rich Heritage Inc., a national marketing and television production company which produced shows for HBO, ESPN and Comcast, among others; and Vice President of Marketing for Heritage Communications Inc.

As an entrepreneur, Terry developed Rich Heritage Inc., along with four other companies including radio station KBBM, US Digital Video, Newsletter Ease, and the World Championship Socker League, LLC.

He has appeared on national television in many roles, including ABC, NBC, CBS, 20/20, CNN, Bob and Tom Radio Show; as movie host on Starz!; and as a panel guest on the "Tonight Show." Terry is the past President of the North American Lottery Association which is responsible for raising over 70 billion dollars for state’s good causes and also serves on the board of Powerball.

Elizabeth Stewart, founder of Meraki Creative, is committed to bringing passion, creativity, and enthusiasm when working with every individual, organization, and project. After spending more than 15 years in various marketing roles across several diverse industries, Elizabeth set out to bring her out-of-the-box thinking and unrivaled creative genius to small businesses and large corporations alike with the launch of Meraki Creative in 2017.
Based out of Des Moines, Iowa, Meraki Creative leverages the power of experiential marketing, live events, and innovative promotions to enable organizations to connect with their customers in a unique and authentic capacity. Since launching, Elizabeth and her team have worked with brands such as the Solheim Cup, Jim Beam and the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines, to name a few.

Laura Vanden Bosch, M.A., APR, currently serves as Mercy—Des Moines’ director of public relations and marketing, a role she has held for nearly 14 years. Her responsibilities include leadership of all marketing, communications and public relations strategies for the organization and its subsidiaries. Additional duties include leadership of brand strategy and standards, advertising, digital media, internal communications, publications, media relations, graphic design, and patient experience communications. Laura has more than 25 years’ experience in marketing communications’ roles.

As group president for The Integer Group, Frank Maher brings more than 25 years of marketing and advertising experience to our clients. Since 2002, he has led the agency through significant growth and honed employees’ skill sets in retail, field marketing and promotions. Frank’s experience spans both agency and client-side positions with companies and accounts as Dr Pepper, Gatorade, John Deere and Quaker Oats. Before joining The Integer Group, Frank was a senior manager at Foote Cone and Belding-FCB. In his free time, Frank can be found bicycling on Iowa’s back roads and trails.

Barb Preuss has been part of the Central Iowa marketing and advertising community for more than 30 years, working in creative and strategic marketing positions at Meredith Corporation and some of the Midwest’s leading advertising agencies. In her current role as Director of Marketing for Des Moines Performing Arts, Barb oversees all event-driven advertising, marketing and publicity efforts. She also guides institutional branding, communications and manages title sponsor relationships for the Willis Broadway Series, Prairie Meadows Temple Theater Series and Wellmark Family Series. Barb was honored to receive the Broadway League’s Outstanding Achievement in Road Marketing Award in 2011 and served as co-chair of the Broadway League National Road Marketing Committee from 2011-2015. Barb is a proud graduate of the University of Northern Iowa (Go Panthers!) and is now in her 19h year at Des Moines Performing Arts.

Heidi Wessels is a graduate of Drake University. Her career spans several industries including commercial construction, pre-architectural planning and non-profit management.  She most recently spent 18 months cultivating membership and developing FIN Capital, Iowa's first women's angel investing network.  Her passion is assisting small business owners and start-ups with development and growth planning. In addition, Heidi has been involved in various non-profit boards and community initiatives. She currently serves on the House of Mercy board of Directors, sits on the Iowa Legal Aid Equal Justice After Hours planning committee and is a volunteer for the East High Fuel Up First program run by Des Moines Police Department.  

Registration Details:
Due to space requirements, we are limited to 35 attendees for this Lunch With Leaders event. Register for this luncheon by noon on Tuesday, April 24. After noon on Tuesday, April 24, an additional $10 will be charged for registrations. This additional charge will be reflected in the registration prices listed above. Any registrations not cancelled by April 24 will be billed. Cancellations may be made by emailing Invoiced payments will be assessed a $5 administration fee.
