Catherine Walker, Assistant AD for Compliance at Drake University
Catherine has worked in athletic compliance since 2005 at four Division I institutions – Elon University, Washington State University, Gonzaga University, and is currently at Drake University. Catherine graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. in Sport Management, Campbell University with a master’s in education and is currently working toward her Ed. D in Higher Education Administration at Liberty University. Catherine is married to Mike and is mom to Aliscia, and MJ.
Lyla Clerry, Senior Associate Athletics Director, Compliance & Sport Performance at University of Iowa
Originally from Southern California, Lyla has worked at University of Iowa since 2013. With nearly 25 years working in college athletics compliance, Clerry has worked at Arizona State, University of New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Oregon State and Towson University. She has also served on the NCAA Legislative Committee for 4 years and have been a member of NAAC (National Association for Athletics Compliance) and Women Leaders in College Sports.
Matt Nickell, Vice President, Sports Marketing at Hy-Vee
Matt studied Finance and Accounting at Drake University and played soccer. After college, Nickell was drafted by DC United of Major League Soccer and spent a few years playing there. Matt then moved backed to Des Moines and began working with Hy-Vee in the Internal Audit Department. Nickell worked on the finance side before becoming Vice President of Sports Marketing in 2020. Matt works directly with all of Hy-Vee’s partnerships in the collegiate and professional ranks. Notable media coverage recently was around the signing of Caitlin Clark for Hy-Vee’s first NIL deal.
Kyle Smith, Field Representative PA and WV, Musco Lighting
Kyle Smith is a sales representative for Musco Sports Lighting in the Pennsylvania and West Virginia territories and has worked with Musco for five years in the sports field. Kyle graduated from Central College in 2018 where he was a four-year student athlete. Smith was a 2-year captain on the basketball team. He was part of the team that made it to four conference tournament appearances, three conference championships, one NCAA division three tournament berth and was voted to the all-conference team three consecutive years while at Central College.
