Parting Thoughts from 2016-2017 AMA Iowa President Joey Taylor-Moon

They say if you cannot stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

At the beginning of the year, it was daunting to know how much needed to be done during the upcoming year for the AMA Iowa chapter. As a board, we all had significant contributions to make and goals to accomplish. Standing at the beginning of the year, there was much heat, but none of us ran from it, we all embraced it. I cannot express enough thanks to the team I was blessed enough to lead this last year. Everyone brought passion, intensity, accountability and tenacity to the table. We might as well have been master chefs. Not only did we have daunting tasks, but we accomplished them. Membership retention remained steady. Programming had their highest attended event this year with Nancy Vonk of Swim and Creative Director behind the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. We rolled out our organizational rebrand in December with a united front! Did I mention that we are a volunteer board?

Dream big and reach for the stars.

Our board of talented and passionate young professionals dreamt BIG this year. We had to set measurable goals and hold ourselves accountable for the results. We did just that. Each member of our board kept pushing even when we had to make adjustments to our original game plan. Our primary goal, the one that stood out against all others, was to embrace the Action in Answers philosophy and stand as one with the National brand moving forward. Moving into the 2017-2018 year, I am confident we will continue to meet and exceed our goal driven dreams.

They say hindsight is 20/20.

Looking back at our year at AMA Iowa and knowing what challenges and exciting prospects were standing before us when we started, it is evident I was fortunate enough to lead a team of individuals with profound skill sets and driven dedication. Each member of the Board this year was steadfast in strengthening our organization. We accomplished many things on behalf of AMA Iowa and our local marketing community. Thank you to each member of the board for your steadfast and accountable drive to make Iowa a great place for Marketing professional to thrive. Here’s to our next chapter under Christy’s guidance!
